Love is an overwhelming emotion. Love may mean different things to different people. It may exist for a sweetheart, mother, friends, pets or nature. Love is a divine feeling, and a beautiful way of expressing it can be through the lyrical medium of music. Different genres of music have been used to express love. Love songs not only convey innermost feelings through lyrics but also set a romantic mood. Love songs help people to express this wonderful emotion. Love struck people who cannot muster courage or are too embarrassed or hesitant to give words to their feelings may do so through love songs. Love songs are not only meant for confessions of love, but can also charge up a romantic atmosphere.
The kind of love songs appreciated by people is subject to their temperament. While some people prefer mushy songs others go for more intense ones. Age and gender are also factors that have a bearing on love songs. Older people and women prefer more meaningful numbers and give importance to lyrics along with the melody. On the contrary, young people go for swinging tunes, even if the words are not that appealing.
Songs of love not only have an emotional connotation, but have developed a commercial aspect too. There are many companies that cash on this universal feeling and record beautiful selections of love songs. Some of these songs are rendered by great artists such as Celion Dion, Mariah Carey and Bryan Adams and have become an integral part of love life of one and all. Their music is widely sold by retail music shops and online vendors. Popularity of these songs can be seen on occasions like Valentine's Day, when they become the best way of sharing eternal joy and happiness.

There are six different musical movements in the typical wedding: the prelude, the processional, the bride’s entrance, the ceremony, the recessional, and the postlude। The types of music that is selected for these movements are usually classical or traditional pieces. If you are looking for classical pieces to orchestrate your wedding ceremony then you should look at the music composed by Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, Clarke, Debussy, Dvorak, Elgar, Faure, Franck, Handel, Hayden, Mendelssohn, and Mozart, just to name a few. All of these composers offer pieces that are appropriate for the various stages of your wedding ceremony.
The wedding music that is played during the ceremony doesn’t always have to be classical pieces like the “Bridal Chorus” or “Ave Maria।” Instead you can select musical numbers that come from contemporary popular top 40 hits, or you can select from more traditional pieces of wedding music. Some of the most popular ceremony music used in weddings today include: “The Bridal March,” “Oh, Promise Me,” “Air on G String,” “A Wedding Thank You,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
Love songs are another popular option for both ceremonial music and wedding reception music। When selecting love songs for weddings you should look for songs that you can identify with as a couple, and you should look for love songs that have a special meaning for you as a couple. Some of the most popular love songs used in weddings today include: “Can you Feel the Love Tonight” by Elton John, “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder, “Just the Way Your Are” by Billy Joel, “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole, “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warner, “All My Life” by Linda Rodstadt and Aaron Neville, “The Long and Winding Road” by the Beatles, “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News, and “You’re the Inspiration” by Chicago.
In addition to the above mentioned love songs, wedding music also usually includes contemporary love songs, classical love songs, and top 40 hits। Some of the more popular wedding songs played at receptions include: “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler, “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker, “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton, “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love” by Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson, “Here, There, and Everywhere” by the Beatles, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, “How Sweet It Is” by Marvin Gaye and Tammie Terrel, “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams, and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warner.
In addition to playing a CD with one of the above songs on it, you can also buy sheet music and arrangements for most of these songs। Sheet music for popular songs, love songs, and classical music can be found both online and in music stores. You will want to make sure that the sheet music that you buy is arranged for the instruments that you will be using at the ceremony or reception, otherwise you will need to rescore it.

This season music lovers might not have to wait till the actual day to celebrate Christmas as UK’s favourite performers are all coming out with their ‘greatest hits’ compilations. Irish boy-band Westlife ‘The Love Album’ is facing stiff competition from compatriots U2, whose album featuring songs from their 20 year long successful career is simply titled ‘18 Singles’.
But wait for a moment, the blast from the past might just blow them away as the timeless music created by The Beatles is compiled by their producer George Martin in ‘Love’ and Brit Pop/Rock band Oasis are not far behind either.
The lads from Manchester are not ‘looking back in anger’ and they don’t need to as their ‘Stop The Clocks’ featuring songs hand picked by the band is giving the afore-mentioned records a reason to think and then re-think their marketing strategy.
When you have the problem of plenty and that too when Christmas is just around the corner it’s time for double celebration and right now you just could not ask for more. As far as music industry insiders are to be believed after the initial spurt, sales of ‘Love’ has cooled down but Westlife and U2 are beginning to generate some heat.
The reason for the Beatles album not faring well may be the new continuous mix format which has put off quite a few loyal listeners and since this was the supposed ‘novelty’ value of the album, the sales are not able to sustain themselves in front of the serious competition offered by other noteworthy competitors.
In the onset of this month Westlife got their 14th UK #1 single with ‘The Rose’ and it has given them bragging rights for being the most successful ‘boy-band’ of 21st century. But the ‘experts’ feel that Oasis might sneak through to the #1 position but in the long run U2 and Westlife will be selling more records (never quite figured out how they manage it).
While the market is strife with speculation nobody seems to be complaining, the retailers are making a killing and fans are swarming the music stores. Well I suggest, avoid battling the Christmas shoppers on the high street and purchase online. You might end up with a good bargain and enough Cashback to buy something you were planning to avoid! So have a musical and merry Christmas!
